Love Story Letters from the Past Review

So…he still doesn’t know, but I’m still dreaming about my Econ “tutor”…oh, sorry, I’m back now. Anyway, since I’m such a romantic, when I saw the game Love Story: Letters from the Past, I had to check it out. Mary is an elderly woman who has just lost her husband. After the funeral, back at the house, you are given instructions to check the mailbox. The mailbox is sparkling, but when you click on it, you’re told that it’s stuck, and that you should find something which with to open it. To do so, you have a list of items to find; if you get stuck there’s a hint available, but then once you select the hint once, you have to wait for the locket to fill up again. You cannot really mess up while playing; the game directs you exactly what to do and when! Finally you open the mailbox, and waiting for you is a package! Everyone loves a package, right?! Once you figure out that you need to take it inside to open it, you again have a list of items to find in the room before you can proceed. If you’re good at finding hidden items in a picture, like me, this mini-game part of the game is a breeze! Little by little, the story unfolds to present you with letters from your long-lost love. Ahh how romantic! As you continue, the game directs you to find memory objects; these trigger little memory flashes of your relationship. It seems somewhat mysterious though, since supposedly your long lost love was killed in a war and you never heard from him again… Now the point of view changes, and you see John, trapped in a cell in some POW camp. More search and find kinds of games, and then a maze! This game is very challenging, but totally addicting. I cannot wait to get John and Mary back together…awww, how romantic! Speaking of romance, the tutor just called and he’s on his way, and I’m supposed to be ready to discuss three chapters of the book! Hrm…maybe I can convince him that there’s something more fun than discussing Economics… how romantic! ;)
