So this week I am having fun! I am at the beach and playing games with an awesome ocean view. And not only am I on vacation at an awesome location but I'm playing an absolutely awesome game, The Timebuilders: Caveman's Prophecy. The Timebuilders series are resource management games in the same vein as My Kingdom for the Princess and Roads of Rome.
I really enjoyed the first Timebuilders game when it came out and the second game, in what I certainly hope is a long series, is every bit as much fun and challenge as the first game. The Timebuilders Caveman's Prophecy is set in prehistoric times as the name might suggest. What I enjoyed is that the whole theme was changed to fit the time period. The developers didn't just change the names of things but actually added new twists. In addition to the houses looking like they came out of the Flintstones, there is no gold in this game. The currency of the time is steaks. You have the opportunity to hatch eggs that contain varying amounts of steaks or rocks. The obstacles are man-eating plants. Instead of treasure chests, you have giant flytrap like plants that will regenerate as you play the game. In addition, you have mounts that are dinosaur like that will assist in your building of unusual contraptions. The sounds are even humorous to the point of the plants making sucking sounds like Audrey II.
All in all, Timebuilders Caveman's Prophecy was a delightful game and the only complaint I had was that it ended too quickly. I played it through 3 times while writing the walkthrough and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is challenging but not impossible and as far as I'm concerned that is exactly the way a game should be. You will probably need some help; I know I did a couple of times! And that is what we're here for. The walkthrough should help get you through some of the rougher spots of the game.
