Someone please help… I think I might pop and it’s not even Christmas yet… as you can imagine… I’m home for the holidays now and my mother has done nothing but feed me since I’ve walked in the door. There are more pies and cookies than I can possible count. Every counter is brimming with Christmas treats as far as I can see! And she keeps coming in my room and bringing me more! Not that I’m complaining, but being in a constant food coma is a bit much even for me and I just got home a few days ago! It doesn’t help that I have been playing a new game Agency of Anomalies: Mystic Hospital and I can’t help but snack when I’m playing a good game! I have to keep my energy up somehow after all!
On top of that, I’m working on my costume for a Christmas party/caroling event with some old friends so there’s been a lot of down time in my room… my costume you ask? Oh thank you for asking! It’s awesome… we’re going as characters from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation… I’m going to be Aunt Bethany from the dinner scene at Christmas, and I’m carrying around a present with a cat in it! Ok, well, not a real cat, but it will make a meowing sound when I shake it! When everyone’s singing I plan on saying the pledge of allegiance… sigh I love Christmas time!
Anyhow, back to the game… I know it’s not Christmas themed, but it’s really cool and I already had the detective’s coat, so it just kind of seemed obvious that I would play it… the premise of the game is that as a detective of strange anomalies, you are asked to investigate what’s left of an old military hospital that had to be evacuated suddenly… they were performing strange experiments on people there and apparently the experiments are still running around the premises!
With that information, you arrive at the hospital ready to start exploring and soon meet the first experiment… the man made of lightning! Each chapter of the game has you solving a way to defeat each experiment and storing their energy for the ultimate showdown at the end!
It’s a pretty intense game. Graphics are great… and the sounds are perfect for setting that creepy mood as you wander around the hospital grounds. The hidden object scenes are full of tons of objects to find, you’ll be surprised at how many in each one. And each scene usually has a few objects that require extra steps to find like carving a pumpkin or sewing a heart.
Overall, it’s an awesome game that pairs perfectly with mom’s gingerbread cookies… and apple pie… and peppermint bark… and hot chocolate… I can go on… Happy Holidays!
