Get ready! I am about to gush ridiculously about the new, upcoming game from Alawar Games… it’s called Natural Threat: Ominous Shores. It is sooooooo good… really good… obnoxiously good. I knew I needed to take a break and write the review about three hours ago, and I couldn’t help myself… I just kept playing and playing…

Really… how good is this game? Well… it’s so good… the character you play in the beginning bites the big one in the first 10 minutes or so… that’s right. You play a scientist’s assistant and wind up being murdered by out of control flora… that’s killer plants, people… because of your tragic death, the island is abandoned, and the plants are left to flourish on their own… think Jurassic Park with plants… and the scene is set.

The next character you play is having the time of her life out sailing from Acapulco with her friends when a terrible storm rushes in out of nowhere and capsizes the boat! Oh no! You wash ashore on a strange island where… wait for it… yes, there are murderous plant life roaming around. Cue evil music… now!

You start by trying to figure out what you're doing and where you are on this mysterious island, and, at the same time, you're trying to find your friends and make sure that you all don’t get eaten by the locals! Can you find them and solve the mystery of the killer plants? I sure as heck am going to try!

The graphics are downright amazing. The details are exquisite, right down to the swarming bugs in the soft glow of my flashlight. Game play mixes up your traditional hidden object scenes with some really fun, interactive, and super unique puzzles and mini-games. The sound… oh the sound… from the soft buzzing of insects, to the startling hoot of an owl, you’ll really believe you’re all alone on this crazy, messed up island.
Overall, really… don’t miss this one… it will hook you and have you begging for more as soon as you start playing. Speaking of… the benefits of getting a hold of demos before the game is released is that… well, I’m going to go back and play before any of you are even able to see it!! Keep your eyes open for this one. Natural Threat: Ominous Shores should be released sometime next week!
