I never quite understood why people enjoyed time management games so much. All my experiences usually left me completely stressed out: my lemonade was too sour, my pizza did not have enough cheese, my paper route customers hated me... It was all too close to my life!!
But I'm a glutton for punishment so that's why I subjected myself to Jane's Hotel... and found myself sucked into Jane's weird obsession for outstanding customer service.
Jane's Hotel is a cute lil' time management game about a girl who works her way up to the big time in Hotel Management. Why she dreams of the daily drudgery of picking up after strangers is a mystery to me (maybe she's hoping that the Hilton family will disown Paris and adopt her) but I'm guessing that Jane is secretly OCD and likes to snoop...
According to the back story; Jane comes from a long line of European Hoteliers who escape the atrocities of WWII to seek their fortunes in America, but that dream is thwarted when the matriarch, Jane's granny, falls in love and gets married instead (???) C'mon Gramma! You gave up your dreams to get married?!? Didn't you know you could do both? Sheesh!
Anyway, Jane picks up the torch that granny so easily discarded and sets off to fulfill her dream of changing dirty sheets and slogging coffee and newspapers to the masses... Dream big sister. Dream big.
So, I sat down to play Jane's Hotel and ~two hours~ later, there I was, watching the money pile up on my virtual desk as the dishes piled up in my real-life sink. To say that Jane's Hotel is a smashingly addicting and fun lil' time manager is an understatement. Mints on the pillows all around!!
One last thing... The only thing that puzzled me was what kind of town did this girl live in anyway?? I mean, the guests come in in the morning, ask for coffee, ask for a paper, demand their room gets cleaned, etc and then leave? Is it a town so full of stressed out folk that they must escape their lives for an afternoon of shut-in solitude? I don't know... maybe I'm thinking too much...
Anyway, here's a guide with some helpful tips I picked up along the way.
