Holy freak’n cow! You’re NOT going to believe this! I’m literally bouncing up and down in my chair as I write this… there’s a sequel to House of 1000 Doors coming out, and I get to preview it before anyone else!!!! This one’s called
House of 1000 Doors: The Palm of Zoroaster, and it stars our favorite heroine Kate Reed again! This time, she needs to save the residents of the House of 1000 Doors from a cursed gem that’s wreaking havoc on the house!
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this game! If you remember, I got to preview the first game back in December, and I really wasn’t expecting a sequel so soon! But OMG, I’m so happy it’s here. And what perfect timing too, since I could really use a break right about now… If you recall, I gave the first House of 1000 Doors a very much deserved 5 stars and this sequel is no different. It rules!

If you’ve never played the first one, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s a ridiculously awesome story, great gameplay, and just an overall marvelous game. And, if you want to play the sequel, you better go back and play the first House of 1000 Doors right now, or you’re not going to know what’s going on. Go ahead… I’ll wait.

This new game takes place a year after everything first went down at the House of 1000 Doors. You begin with Kate driving back to the house. But suddenly there are explosions of fire that flash across the sky, and you crash your car into a tree! Don’t worry, you’re not hurt, and you are able to start your adventure on foot since you can see the house looming in the distance.

Just like the first one, the graphics are exquisite, although I think they’ve stepped it up a notch in this one. Everything is just so pretty! The gameplay is very intuitive and the hidden object scenes are just perfect for me… not too easy, not too hard, since I hate when I come to a screeching halt in the story when I can’t find something.

They have a few nice features too in the hidden object scenes. First they are extremely interactive. They’ll have you rolling up car windows and peeling back bark to find objects. Then they also have an “items left to find” feature so you know how many more items you have to find before you’ve completed the scene. That might not matter to some people, but I enjoy knowing, so it was a plus for me.

There are two modes you can play in, casual and expert. I enjoy casual since that means less time waiting for the hint button to recharge and there are sparkles here and there to help me on my way. There are also 46 "beyond objects" in the scenes that you want to keep an eye out for. These are just extra hidden objects scattered throughout the game that you can find for an extra challenge.
Overall conclusion? Pure awesome sauce! I can’t even wait to go back and play the rest of the game. No really… I can’t wait… for all you gamers who haven’t tried the House of 1000 Doors yet… go, shoo… try it. I’ve got a cursed gem to find.
