Fans of the Empress of the Deep games will be pleased to see that a new addition to the franchise, Empress of the Deep 3: Legacy of the Phoenix, has been released today in a collector's edition. Although early reviews have us questioning whether the developers have strayed from what was once a can't-miss series.

This third offering picks up where the last game left off, with Empress Anna discovering that her lost tribe is in terrible danger, threatened by a corrupt colossus set upon them by her evil twin, Pandora. Now, she must find a way to stop this dangerous monster from fully awakening before it's too late!

I was surprised to see that Empress of the Deep 3: Legacy of the Phoenix was barely holding on to 3 Stars with only 47% of players saying they would recommend it. You expect a big game like this to come out strong and at least be able to ride the coattails of the previous games.

The ratings are all over the board ranging from a solid 5 Stars to a dismal 1 Star. Remarks like "A bit disappointed" to "I'm so confused" to "Zzzzzzzzzz" faced off against comments full of praise such as "Probably the best of the three!" and "Couldn't ask for more!"
