I love the legend of The Headless Horseman; I have since I was little. I have a great memory of my twin sister telling the story to some young girls at Girl Scout camp and scaring them into staying up all night; camp counselor victory! (What? It was a Halloween theme that month; they had a lot to be scared of –Bwahaha–).

Anyway, I love the legend, so when I saw Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman, I knew I had to give it a try. Do I regret it? No. Would I do it again? …Eh.

So there’s a lot to like in Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman. Of course, there’s the horseman himself, who is amazing. In fact, I loved the character design and general look of the entire game; it was haunting in all the right ways. I felt the designers were very true to the feel of The Headless Horseman, even though they changed up quite a few things from the legend itself.

However, I didn’t care for the way they insinuated there would be a "scientific study" of the murders, and then made it into a ghost story. Either you’re making a point of using science to debunk a ghost story (which would have been an interesting twist), or we’re just going to have a ghost story. I’m not really sure what the point of throwing the idea of science in there was, and frankly, it just annoyed me.

I also wasn’t thrilled with the hidden object areas, which were eeeeverywhere. You couldn’t turn in a circle without having to find a list of items, some of which were so small and in such dimly lit corners, there was no way you could find them without the use of the hint button.

I didn’t care one way or the other about the puzzles, which were all pretty run-of-the-mill, but I was seriously put off by the sheer amount of nonsense I was hauling around in my inventory that I had no idea what to do with.

To add insult to injury, Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman had a perfectly good built-in strategy guide, it just doesn’t unlock until after you finish the chapter. Not much help there.

Luckily I had our Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman Walkthrough with me the whole way. There are some pretty strange leaps of logic to be made in Sleepy Hollow, but with the mass amounts of custom screenshots and step-by-step instructions from our walkthrough guru, I was able to focus on having fun and defeating the legendary Headless Horseman.
